Reviewer Guidelines

Reviewers of Bidayat: Journal of Islamic Law play an important role in maintaining the academic quality, integrity, and scholarly contribution of the journal. Reviewers are expected to provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of submitted manuscripts based on their expertise in the field of Islamic Law.

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  1. Evaluate manuscripts objectively and professionally.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts.
  3. Provide constructive comments and recommendations to improve manuscript quality.
  4. Identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors.
  5. Inform editors about potential ethical issues, plagiarism, or conflicts of interest.
  6. Complete the review process within the specified review period.

Review Criteria

Reviewers should assess manuscripts based on the following aspects:

  • Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope
  • Originality and novelty of the study
  • Clarity of research objectives and arguments
  • Appropriateness of research methodology
  • Depth of analysis and discussion
  • Accuracy and adequacy of references
  • Contribution to the development of Islamic law studies
  • Language clarity, coherence, and academic writing quality

Review Recommendations

Reviewers are requested to provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept Submission
  • Revisions Required
  • Resubmit for Review
  • Decline Submission

Ethical Standards for Reviewers

Reviewers must adhere to the following ethical principles:

  • Maintain impartiality and avoid personal criticism.
  • Do not use unpublished materials for personal research purposes.
  • Declare any conflict of interest related to the manuscript.
  • Respect academic integrity and publication ethics.

Review Process

The journal applies a double-blind peer review system, meaning that reviewer and author identities are concealed from each other throughout the review process. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.
