Publication Ethics

Bidayat: Journal of Islamic Law is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing all forms of publication malpractice. The journal follows ethical principles based on international academic publishing standards to ensure the quality, credibility, and integrity of scholarly publications in the field of Islamic Law.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must:

  1. Submit original and unpublished work that is not under consideration by another journal.
  2. Ensure that all data, citations, and references are accurate and properly acknowledged.
  3. Avoid plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, and other unethical research practices.
  4. Clearly acknowledge contributions from all co-authors and contributors.
  5. Disclose any conflicts of interest related to the manuscript.
  6. Immediately inform the editor if significant errors are discovered after submission or publication.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  1. Making publication decisions based on academic merit and relevance to the journal scope.
  2. Evaluating manuscripts fairly without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or political beliefs.
  3. Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
  4. Avoiding conflicts of interest in the editorial process.
  5. Taking appropriate action regarding ethical complaints or suspected misconduct.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must:

  1. Conduct reviews objectively, professionally, and constructively.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts during the review process.
  3. Identify relevant references not cited by authors when necessary.
  4. Inform editors of any suspected plagiarism or ethical misconduct.
  5. Decline review assignments when conflicts of interest exist.

Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism, data manipulation, or unethical content will be rejected immediately. The journal tolerates only a limited level of similarity for properly cited quotations and references.

Research Misconduct

Research misconduct includes but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication and falsification
  • Duplicate publication
  • Improper authorship attribution
  • Citation manipulation

If misconduct is identified, the editorial board reserves the right to reject, retract, or correct published articles in accordance with ethical publishing standards.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right to publish and distribute the article. Published articles may be shared and used for academic purposes with proper citation and acknowledgment of the original publication.

Complaints and Appeals

Authors may submit complaints or appeals regarding editorial decisions by contacting the editorial office officially. All complaints will be handled professionally, transparently, and fairly according to journal policies.
