Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Bidayat: Journal of Islamic Law undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. The journal applies a Single-blind peer review system in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

The review process consists of the following stages:

  1. Initial Submission
    Authors submit manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system in accordance with the author guidelines and manuscript template.
  2. Editorial Screening
    The editorial team conducts an initial evaluation to assess the manuscript’s suitability with the journal’s focus and scope, writing format, academic quality, and plagiarism screening. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal standards may be rejected before the peer-review stage.
  3. Reviewer Assignment
    Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who possess expertise relevant to the topic of the manuscript.
  4. Single-Blind Peer Review
    Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, methodological rigor, theoretical contribution, clarity of analysis, use of references, and relevance to contemporary issues in Islamic law. Reviewers provide recommendations categorized as:
    • Accept without revision
    • Accept with minor revisions
    • Accept with major revisions
    • Reject
  5. Revision Process
    Authors are required to revise the manuscript according to reviewer comments and editorial suggestions within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
  6. Final Decision
    The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of the revised manuscript.
  7. Copyediting and Publication
    Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, proofreading, layout editing, and final approval before publication.
