This article aims to analyze the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic educational institutions as a systematic approach to improving institutional quality in an integrated and sustainable manner. Using a qualitative literature-based research method, this study examines core TQM principles such as customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, leadership commitment, teamwork, and data-based decision-making and their relevance within the values and philosophy of Islamic education. The findings indicate that the successful implementation of TQM in Islamic educational institutions requires strong leadership grounded in Islamic values, participatory management, quality-oriented organizational culture, and continuous evaluation of academic and non-academic services. Furthermore, the integration of TQM principles with Islamic educational values contributes not only to institutional effectiveness and efficiency but also to the holistic development of learners in spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social dimensions. This study concludes that TQM serves as an effective management framework for strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of Islamic educational institutions while maintaining their distinctive religious identity.
2025-12-22T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JISEI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Educational Innovation https://ojs.stai-ibnurusyd.ac.id/index.php/jisei/article/view/18 Educational Interpretation of Verses on Religious Moderation and Their Relevance in the Contemporary World of Education 2026-01-18T15:19:06+00:00 Dedi Susanto dedisusantodd18@gmail.com
Religious moderation has become a crucial discourse in responding to the challenges of extremism, intolerance, and polarization in contemporary societies, particularly within the educational sphere. This study aims to analyze the educational interpretation of Qur’anic verses related to religious moderation and to examine their relevance in the context of modern education. Employing a qualitative library research method, the study uses a thematic (maudhu‘i) approach to interpret selected Qur’anic verses that emphasize balance (wasatiyyah), justice (‘adl), tolerance (tasamuh), and inclusivity in human relations. The findings indicate that Qur’anic teachings on moderation are not merely theological concepts but possess strong pedagogical implications, including the development of holistic curricula, dialogical learning models, and value-based character education. In the contemporary educational context, these values are relevant for fostering critical thinking, mutual respect, social harmony, and ethical responsibility among learners in multicultural and pluralistic environments. The study concludes that integrating the educational interpretation of moderation-oriented Qur’anic verses into educational practices can contribute significantly to building inclusive, peaceful, and transformative educational systems. This research offers a conceptual framework for educators and policymakers to embed religious moderation as a foundational value in contemporary education.
2025-12-27T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JISEI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Educational Innovation https://ojs.stai-ibnurusyd.ac.id/index.php/jisei/article/view/2 Islamic Religious Education Teachers' Strategies in Integrating Islamic Character Values into the Learning Process 2026-01-12T03:39:39+00:00 Mariyatul Kiftiyah mariyakiftiya09@gmail.com Roni Susanto rooneyshushantho@gmail.com
Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a strategic role in shaping students’ moral and spiritual character in formal education. However, the integration of Islamic character values into daily learning practices often faces various pedagogical and contextual challenges. This study aims to analyze the strategies employed by Islamic Religious Education teachers in integrating Islamic character values into the learning process. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with IRE teachers, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that teachers apply several key strategies, including the integration of character values into lesson planning, the use of exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah), habituation through religious routines, contextual learning methods, and reflective evaluation of students’ attitudes and behaviors. These strategies are supported by interactive learning models and a positive school culture that reinforces Islamic values both inside and outside the classroom. The study also identifies inhibiting factors, such as limited instructional time and diverse student backgrounds, as well as supporting factors, including teacher commitment and institutional support. Overall, the integration of Islamic character values through systematic and contextual strategies contributes significantly to the development of students’ religious attitudes and moral behavior. This study is expected to provide practical insights for educators in strengthening character-based Islamic education.
2025-12-21T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JISEI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Educational Innovation https://ojs.stai-ibnurusyd.ac.id/index.php/jisei/article/view/16 The Concept of Humanist Education from an Islamic Perspective and Its Implementation in Modern Learning 2026-01-18T12:32:18+00:00 Joko Supriyanto Supriantoj463@gmail.com Deden Hidayat dedenhidayat01@gmail.com
Humanist education emphasizes the holistic development of learners by recognizing their dignity, potential, and freedom as human beings. From an Islamic perspective, humanist education is deeply rooted in the values of tauhid, justice, compassion, and respect for human dignity (karāmah al-insāniyyah). Islam views humans as both servants (‘abd) and vicegerents (khalīfah) of God on earth, implying a balanced educational approach that nurtures intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and social dimensions. This study aims to explore the concept of humanist education within Islamic teachings and analyze its implementation in modern learning contexts. Using a qualitative library research method, the study examines classical and contemporary Islamic educational thought alongside modern pedagogical theories. The findings indicate that Islamic humanist education promotes learner-centered approaches, dialogical learning, critical thinking, and ethical character formation. Its implementation in modern learning can be realized through inclusive classroom practices, contextual learning, integration of moral values, and the use of technology that supports creativity and autonomy. This study contributes to the development of an educational paradigm that harmonizes Islamic values with contemporary educational demands, offering a relevant framework for humanizing education in the modern era.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JISEI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Educational Innovation https://ojs.stai-ibnurusyd.ac.id/index.php/jisei/article/view/7 Moral Learning Based on Teacher Exemplars as a Strategy for Strengthening Islamic Character Education 2026-01-14T13:55:50+00:00 Ahmad Wahyu Hidayat ahmadwahyu.2021@student.uny.ac.id
Moral degradation among students has become a significant challenge in contemporary education, particularly in the context of globalization and rapid socio-cultural change. Islamic character education is expected to provide moral guidance; however, its implementation often remains cognitive-oriented and lacks effective internalization. This study aims to analyze moral learning based on teacher exemplars as a strategic approach to strengthening Islamic character education. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research explores how teachers’ attitudes, behaviors, and daily interactions function as living moral models for students. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation in Islamic educational institutions. The findings indicate that teacher exemplars play a central role in shaping students’ Islamic character, including honesty, discipline, responsibility, tolerance, and spiritual awareness. Moral learning grounded in exemplary behavior is more effective than purely instructional methods, as it fosters moral internalization through habituation and emotional bonding. Teachers who consistently demonstrate Islamic values in both instructional and non-instructional settings significantly influence students’ moral development. This study concludes that strengthening Islamic character education requires positioning teachers not only as knowledge transmitters but also as moral role models whose exemplary conduct becomes the core of moral learning strategies.
2025-12-10T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JISEI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Educational Innovation https://ojs.stai-ibnurusyd.ac.id/index.php/jisei/article/view/5 Reconstruction of Islamic Religious Education Curriculum Responsive to Modern Developments: Analysis of 21st Century Needs 2026-01-12T16:53:42+00:00 Karisma Ayu Candra karismaayu67@gmail.com
The 21st-century developments, marked by advances in digital technology, globalization, and social and cultural change, require the world of education to continuously adapt its curriculum. As an integral part of the education system, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a strategic role in shaping the character, morals, and spirituality of students, enabling them to face modern challenges critically and ethically. However, various studies indicate that the PAI curriculum in many educational institutions still tends to be normative, textual, and oriented towards mastery of material, making it less responsive to the dynamics of 21st-century life. Empirical findings reveal that PAI learning has not fully integrated 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and digital literacy. As a result, PAI often lacks relevance in addressing contemporary issues, including pluralism, digital ethics challenges, and the crisis of values among the younger generation. Conversely, studies examining innovations in the PAI curriculum indicate that curriculum reconstruction that integrates a contextual approach, the use of technology, and the strengthening of religious moderation values can improve religious understanding, tolerance, and active student engagement in learning. Given these conditions, the reconstruction of the Islamic Religious Education curriculum to be responsive to modern developments is an urgent need. This effort aims to ensure that the Islamic Religious Education curriculum remains relevant, adaptive, and able to meet the needs of 21st-century education without abandoning the substance of Islamic values.
2025-12-18T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JISEI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Educational Innovation https://ojs.stai-ibnurusyd.ac.id/index.php/jisei/article/view/3 Innovation in Islamic Education Curriculum Based on Religious Moderation in a Multicultural Society 2026-01-12T09:05:28+00:00 Syahrudin Syahrudin syahrudin.mahakarya14@gmail.com Aan Gunawan aangunawan0705@gmail.com
Innovation in the Islamic education curriculum is essential to respond to the challenges of a multicultural society characterized by religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity. This study aims to analyze Islamic education from a philosophical perspective by examining how Islamic values can be meaningfully integrated with educational innovation to foster holistic human development. Using a qualitative philosophical approach, this research explores foundational Islamic concepts such as tauhid, akhlaq, ‘ilm, and maslahah as epistemological and axiological bases for educational transformation. The study critically engages with classical and contemporary Islamic educational thought, while also dialoguing with modern educational theories related to innovation, learner-centered pedagogy, and transformative learning. The findings indicate that the integration of Islamic values and educational innovation is not merely a technical adaptation of modern methods, but a value-driven transformation that reorients educational goals toward ethical consciousness, spiritual depth, social responsibility, and intellectual creativity. This integration enables Islamic education to remain faithful to its normative foundations while being responsive to contemporary realities. The study contributes to the development of a conceptual framework for transformative Islamic education that emphasizes philosophical coherence, contextual relevance, and sustainability in educational reform.
2025-12-17T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JISEI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Educational Innovation https://ojs.stai-ibnurusyd.ac.id/index.php/jisei/article/view/11 Application of Statistical Methods in Determining Learning Evaluation Values and Scores 2026-01-16T16:06:52+00:00 Tri Haryati trihariyati94@gmail.com Isti Koma istiiqomah188@gmail.com Alfira Mersania Shintia alfirarasya03@gmail.com Julmi Julmi julmikrisna30@gmail.com
Learning assessment is an important aspect of education that requires accuracy, objectivity, and fairness, as assessments that rely solely on teacher subjectivity can lead to misinterpretation of students' abilities. This study aims to analyze the application of statistical methods in determining scores and evaluating results in learning. The method used is a literature review. The analysis was conducted based on literature related to statistical methods, including mean calculation, standard deviation, z-score, Pearson Product Moment correlation, Cronbach's Alpha, and multiple linear regression. In this context, Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping the character of students who are tolerant, inclusive, and able to coexist harmoniously in a multicultural society. This article aims to analyze the role of Islamic education in building a tolerant and inclusive character in the era of globalization. This research uses a qualitative approach through library research by examining various scientific literature, educational policy documents, and relevant research findings related to Islamic education and character formation. The results of the study indicate that Islamic education plays a significant role in instilling the values of religious moderation, such as tawassuṭ (balance), tasāmuh (tolerance), ta‘ādul (justice), and i‘tidāl (proportionality), which form the foundation for developing inclusive attitudes. The integration of these values into the curriculum, dialogic learning methods, and the role models of educators have proven effective in developing awareness of diversity and mutual respect. Thus, Islamic education not only functions as a means of transferring religious knowledge, but also as a strategic instrument in shaping the character of students who are adaptive, open, and oriented towards global peace.
2025-12-09T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2025 JISEI: Journal of Islamic Studies and Educational Innovation
